Village Road Box Culvert Upgrade

Designing and developing new methods is something that really motivates us at TCD. This is exactly what we did when we were engaged by the City of Karratha to refurbish Bridge 1585 on Village Road, in the Burrup Peninsula.

The works involved sleeving the existing concrete box culvert sections with higher rated, smaller dimensional units, grouting of the annulus, reinstatement of the wing walls, repairs to the apron slabs and minor earthworks to upstream and downstream aprons.

Where a straightforward approach could have done the job, our civil and workshop employees saw an opportunity create a more efficient process by developing a jacking and sliding system to assist with the installation of the box culverts.
